Dr. Vaughn W. Baker is an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church, and is currently serving the Silver Creek United Methodist Church in Azle, Texas, USA. Vaughn has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Miami University, Oxfrd, Ohio. He has also earned both the Master of Theology and Doctor of Ministry degrees from the Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Vaughn is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Theology degree at the University of South Africa. Vaughn holds a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from SMU. Vaughn has served as pastor in congregations and missions in both Texas and the Republic of Ireland for 35 years.
Vaughn is married to Jacqueline Kay Madden Baker, and both of whom reside in Weatherford, Texas. Jacque has served working in public education with special needs children for forty years. Jacque holds bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Texas, Austin. Jacque was recently recognized as Teacher of the year in her school and the Weatherford school district. Vaughn and Jacque have been involved with the Walk to Emmaus, Chrysalis, and Kairos ministries, both in Texas and in Ireland.
Vaughn and Jacque have one daughter, Amanda Courtney, who also holds two degrees from the University of Texas in Austin, where she currently resides. Trained in social work, Amanda has studied in India, and has done mission work in Mexico and Turkey. Amanda is currently a social worker in Austin and is currently enrolled in the Master of Social Work degree at UT.
Recently, on October 7, 2009, Vaughn opened the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. in prayer upon the invitation of Texas Congressional Representative Kay Granger. Jacque and Amanda were also present for that occasion. Then, on April 15, 2010, Vaughn opened the U.S. Senate in prayer upon the invitation of Senator John Cornyn of Texas.
